Today, I wanna talk about the three mindset markers of a high value coach. What do I mean by a high value coach? Well, this has a lot of interpretations to it, but to me, when I say a high value coach, I mean someone who is sitting in there knowing of what their purpose is in their business, how they are contributing to the solution in the, you know, industry as a whole, in the lives of the people that they are so graciously called to work with.
And in general, just how they move through and carry themselves in the. Particularly in their practice. Now I’ve learned a thing or two about what it really means to stand in. The role that you have as a healer and as a leader in this industry. And I wanted to talk a little bit about some of the intangible qualities that we have to cultivate.
If we are going to stand the test of time in our businesses. And I am a huge believer that you. Launching your practice, you know, as a hobby, you’re doing this because you feel a deep call to serve other people and to give the world something special, something that it’s not going to have. If you don’t find a way to run a successful business.
And also understanding that a successful business means many different things to many different people. So for you, a successful business might be, you know, you work with five clients a week. You might feel called to launch an empire, maybe a successful business for you is moving into group work.
Whatever it looks like for you. I believe that you’re here to do it and I am here to help you accomplish it. So I wanted to share with you three things that I have learned over the years that I really didn’t realize I would need to cultivate in myself or I sort of underestimated how far these qualities would take me.
And so let’s go through them. The first mindset marker of a high value coach is that you have strong boundaries, strong, strong, strong boundaries. This is a lot harder than it sounds because one as an intuitive and as an impact as a highly sensitive person, Boundaries. Don’t exactly come easy to people like us.
Right? You can feel and sense and know everything all the time. And so we struggle with boundaries to begin with, but high value coaches, people who are really standing in their truth know how to set boundaries. So that is a very nuanced thing. What does it mean to have a boundary? What does that look like?
Well, I’ll give you kind of a simple way of thinking about having a strong boundary people that have strong boundaries. Are people who understand their yes and their no’s, because they are very clear about what they can and can’t do and about what they will and will not do. So they take the time to really be grounded in their commitments, grounded in.
What they want themselves to accomplish, right? How they partner with their clients to help their clients accomplish what they set out to do. And so boundaries is a big one and a way we can step into strong boundaries with everything you do in your businesses, ask yourself, do I have the time, the energy, the money, and the resources to do this thing exceptionally well to give it my best.
Right now your best. Isn’t perfect. Right? Your best. Isn’t perfect. Your best is your best, right? 85%. Awesome. That’s what I shoot for in my business. Right. About 85%. Awesome. I wanna B plus, so having strong boundaries is something that goes, it’s one of those intangible qualities that go so far in helping you accomplish what you set out to in your business, because you’re not overcommitting yourself.
You’re not spreading yourself too thin. You are giving yourself the space that you need to perform well, to do that from a place of wholeness within yourself, no more running around like a chicken with your head. Cut off. No more doing things because you feel obligated no more saying yes to clients who ask you to slash your rates because you feel guilty or because you want everybody to get the help you need.
That is not what high value coaches do. They’re clear on their yes and their no, and they value themselves enough to have those boundaries and they love and respect their clients enough to have that boundary too. The second is. That you’re dedicated to process and iterative progress, not flash in the pan success.
I’m gonna say that one more time, cuz that was a mouthful you’re dedicated to process and iterative progress, not flash in the pan success. so what do I mean by flash in the pan success? Well, we have all heard it. Haven’t we hit your first 10 K month or, oh, I just hit seven figures in eight months within being in business.
We’ve all heard the stories and I celebrate that. I think it is beautiful. I think it is wonderful. Good for you sister. Good for you. But the truth is 99% of the businesses out there that is not realistic. And so it’s almost become a warped lens through which we see business development in the online coaching industry specifically because our industry is replete with marketing strategies and stories like this.
And of course we wanna showcase our wins, but it seems very lopsided in the coaching industry. I. And so what’s better than chasing the flash and the pan success is getting a process down that works for you, whether that’s systems in your business, operational rhythm, or just knowing how to manage your energy throughout the day, knowing what to focus on in a way that works for you.
So I always tell the coaches that I train in our intuitive coach certification program. What is better than hitting your first 10 K month? Well hitting 12 consecutive 4k months. which one sounds better now the first one. Ooh, I just hit 10. K it sounds sexy, but what’s far better is developing processes and systems in a way of working that’s in alignment with your soul, with how you are in the world, partnering with the clients, you’re here to serve and doing it in a way that creates sustainable, reliable growth.
That’s what we’re after slow and steady wins the race. Okay. I didn’t go multiple six figures in my business until year six, right year, maybe even year seven. I don’t know. It was a long time. Like I worked really hard to get there. Okay. I was successful of course, before that happened, but I offer that to you to try to show that it’s more realistic to go the hard yards and create that moment of.
That lasts. It’s think of it like flying in a plane. You might be able to get it off the ground, but that’s really not an accomplishment if it crashes 30 minutes later, right. Because you hurried the process. So we are after a safe, long flight to the destination, that is the glorious dream and intention you have for the healing work that you’re bringing into the.
and the third quality or mindset marker of a high value coach is that you yourself are coachable. Now coachable means many things. But to me it means when I hear the word coachable, the word humble, always pops up into my head right after it, that you are humble. That you understand that there’s always another mountain to climb and a better way to do things and that you should be a perennial student of the art to which you are dedicating your life.
And that coaching is an art that this is something we practice that we should wake up every day endeavoring to improve our skills. To learn how to become better. We owe that to our clients. I really believe that every day we should be waking up and saying, how can I improve on me, both as a healer, as a leader, and as a business person, all of the areas.
And not only that, but extrapolating that out of course, into our personal life. This is the commitment to our own Ascension, our own growth. Nothing else really matters. but that right. That’s such a beautiful way to approach it. So high value mindset, coaches, they are coachable. They are humble. They are in there knowing that they too need to continue to learn and they’re willing to invest in themselves to continue to do it right.
They understand. They probably aren’t as good at things as they maybe think they are . So I like to approach the attitude that, Hey man, you know, I have a lot to learn in all of these areas and I think it’s why I’ve gotten as far as I have and why I did stay in business. Even when I, you know, took my foot off the gas pedal in my business.
When I started graduate school in 2017, I didn’t do hardly anything in my business for two years, and yet I stayed profitable and the business. Did really well. Right. Despite doing almost nothing while I fought to survive graduate school, right. It was a really harrowing experience. So be coachable, be coachable, stay humble.
Invest in yourself because you know, it’s what you should do. Not because you want to go achieve some, you know, big, massive success in your business. Or, you know, you’re hoping that if you spend money on this or go to this conference or buy this software or whatever it is you’re investing in, in your business, that it’s gonna give you some outcome.
No, I think it’s really about investing to watch ourselves ascend, you know, that is really. The game we’re playing, isn’t it? Because at the end of the day, you, your heart, your mind, your soul, the people you’ve loved along the way, the people you’ve impacted. That’s the only thing you are taking with you.
It’s the only thing that matters. No one is going to care how big your business was. They’re gonna care how many lives you impacted, and that’s why we want big, bold, audacious, wildly successful business. The reason why we want that is because we want to impact thousands, hundreds of thousands, millions of lives, right.
That’s why we do it as intuitive coaches, but it starts with knowing that this is soul work, that you’re connected to these people that, you know, in your heart, you’re here to. So be coachable, dedicate yourself to the process, celebrate every iterative gain you make in your business. It’s all such a miracle that any of us are brave enough that you’re brave enough to step up and say yes to this by all rights.
It’s insanity. Isn’t it. You know, we should just follow the path that our parents set out and, you know, expect our lives to just be what it’s always been. It’s a miracle that we endeavor to do this. It’s so powerful. It’s so cool. I’m so proud of you for trying. I’m proud of myself for trying, right. It takes such a courageous heart and a courageous soul to do this.
And while you’re doing that, have strong boundaries stand up for yourself, you know, make your yes mean something and your no means something and be. About what you can and can’t do and what you will, and you won’t do, and you will watch yourself fly, fly, fly into that high place that destiny is calling you in.
