Episode Transcript:

Welcome to the everyday intuitive podcast. I’m your host, Heather Alice Shea intuitive life coach trainer status quo, shaker and founder of atmana coaching academy. Listen in each week to break up with your comfort zone claim your self confidence and radically embrace your role as an intuitive healer mentor and sought after coach let’s get within and get after it.

Today on the show, we are going to talk about how to write an invocation that deepens your intuitive work. So when I began hosting private intuitive sessions back in 2014, I really wasn’t familiar with the concept of an invocation. I didn’t really understand the point of them, how they helped or really.

Power and the usefulness that they provide us as we do both our own intuitive work and also working with our clients. So in this episode, we’re gonna cover what an invocation is, why it is important and how it helps. We’re gonna talk a little bit about the seven authorities that you can include in your invocation.

And then we are going to cover some tips to write an invocation for yourself, whether it’s you doing your own personal work or work with your clients. If you are a practicing coach, and then I’m gonna give you just some useful prompts for you to be able to use, to get started. Writing your very own invocation.

So what is an invocation? Well, the dictionary defines the word invocation as the act of invoking something or someone for assistance or as an authority. And I love this idea. That we have an authority within us, an authority of divine origin that we have access to. So what do we mean by authority? Well, what I will say is that means whatever that means to you.

There’s no such thing as an authority that has any claim over you, that you don’t give your ascent and your power away to it. Right? So in other words, you get to choose the God you serve. I would strongly recommend never giving your authority away to someone or something that you don’t feel is serving the highest.

Good. So usually as intuitive coaches, as people who are sensitives and who approach using our intuitive abilities from that spiritual perspective, And believe you me, there are plenty of people in the world that are highly, highly intuitive in psychic and have absolutely nothing to do with spirituality.

Right. They just possess an intuitive skill set. They use it. They don’t really care about spirituality. They’re not really into it. Right. So I’m speaking specifically about intuitives who are on the path of enlightenment, right? They’re seeking to walk that middle path, that middle way, you know, transcending the dualistic paradigm of the human Condit.

And reorienting and reintegrating back into their own divine self. So we really define authority as intuitive coaches is usually God spirit universe, you know, the divine, the energy field, however you want to characterize it. Right. But it can also be other things, you know, I really invite you to bring your curiosity to what you consider to be the forces within our realm, with the power to help you lead and guide your life.

Okay. So other things that it can be are masters angels, AK angels, ancestors, the earth, herself nature. You know, I don’t know, man. You wanna get into the star beings and the light families and all that good stuff. I’m here for all of it. Okay. The elves, the Lecan the fairies. I don’t know dolphins. Hell. I mean the list goes on and on and on.

And the more longer it goes, the funnier it gets . So please feel free to play with this, you know, to be curious about who you would like to Bessie. As you begin to open up your intuitive abilities to help yourself and other people ascend into their own inner authority. So why are invocations important?

Why do they help you and how do they help you? I think one of the main things that an invocation is gonna do for you is it sets the stage. It sets the stage of your heart. It sets the stage of your mind. It helps bring all aspects of you in and congruent. And I notice that when I sit down and I take a moment before I teach a class, Or I’m hosting a group session.

I don’t really do privates anymore, but anytime I sit down to teach, it helps me to just say my, you know, one to two sentence in vocation, and I’m gonna share with you what mine is at the end, or at least how I start it usually. It really helps me center in, I think it primes our mind and our heart and our soul to come into alignment, to kind of downshift and really be present in the here and now with what we’re asking for and what we’re seeking.

The second thing I think it does is it facilitates connection. Between your conscious subconscious and super conscious mind it really, again, I guess, you know, back to the alignment thing, whether we wanna say it’s mind, body spirit, or conscious subconscious, super conscious it, I believe that an invocation calls them into order.

Right. Really helps you feel like. You are sitting there paying attention to yourself, tapped in, you know, turned on, ready to receive. Right. If you’re working with clients, I have found that if you just take a moment to center, especially if you do a lot of intuitive work, it really will put your client at ease.

If you are offering an invocation verbally out loud with a client present, you know, I’ve always asked for permission to say, Hey, you know, is it okay? I like to say a little prayer before I begin. Are you cool with that? You know, of course it’s their sessions. We always want to behave and act at the level of their comfort, but I have found most clients absolutely love it.

And it helps them feel safe around you because it’s almost like you’re declaring your intention in what you’re doing and working with them. And I also think it establishes Goodwill. I think it establishes an intention that you bring in that moment. Right. For however long you’re gonna be, if it’s a coaching session, you know, maybe an hour, if it’s your own meditation session, you know, it could be 15 minutes.

Right. But it helps you get intentional with what it is. You’re actually trying to get. Of the time that you are putting in and the energy that you are putting in. Okay. So in a minute, I’m gonna give you some steps on how to write your invocation, but there are seven authorities, generally speaking, that I would recommend toying with to put into your invocation now, depending on the type of work that you do and how your own intuitive faculties come online and manifest in your.

You may or may not feel drawn, you know, to these certain characters. The first one is obviously God slash the universe, right? The, all that is the, I am that I am right. God, the universe, I don’t really think you can go wrong, whether you’re comfortable with the word, God, I am. I, I pray to God. I’m comfortable with that word.

I know a lot of people aren’t right. We’ve been super burned by organized. I myself am a recovering person from being burned from crazy organized religion. And so, you know, certainly Beeching, the universe is incredibly powerful too. The second is your own higher self. I mean, there’s no force other than God, obviously in my experience in being a professional intuitive for going on eight years, now that you’re going to invoke, that’s gonna have more power, more, leverage, more bang for your.

To help you move the needle on your own Ascension, and also just facilitate one hell of an intuitive coaching session. Like your hire self, your higher self is really there to lead you to guide you, to keep your ass on track. Your higher self is gonna be very loving, very kind, and very sweet and also kick your ass.

If you’re going astray, right? It’s spirit is unconditionally loving, but they’re also there to keep you, you know, on the high and right. So I put, hire yourself as number two, simply because they just seem to have more leverage with respect, to helping us grow and learn in the way that we’re supposed to in this life.

If you’re working with a client and you’re comfortable with this, you can of course, ask your clients, hire yourself to come into session. When I did a lot of private coaching sessions, I would do this. I would say, it’s me, you, my higher self. You’re a higher self let’s kick it. And my clients loved it. I loved it.

I felt very safe and secure in that energy. It was almost. Me and my client were down here in the physical and spirit was up there in the higher realms, you know, joining us for the session. I absolutely loved doing that. So if you’re comfortable with that, certainly consider it. The fourth is angels and arc angels.

So I know some people entirely work through the angelic systems. Depending on your belief system, you may or may not be okay with this one. I used to not be down with it at all. And then I had a crazy experience with arch angel, Michael. And so now I’m all about it. so angels are insanely powerful. My experience with them is that they’re very, very peaceful, very loving, but they really do bring, uh, very, very, very intense and powerful energy into the session.

If you vibe with that, definitely add ’em in the fifth is ancestors or loved ones that have passed on. So I have a very strong connection to my ancestors, particularly on my father’s side. Although I’m getting to know my mother’s side and really feeling them in my life, helping me and cheering me on. So I would just, man, I would never underestimate the power of your ancestors to help you.

However, I’m gonna give you a caveat here. I do not recommend invoking your client’s ancestors without expressed permission from your client, because this could be a source of trauma or fear for your client. So many people enter into coaching because they do have generational trauma or maybe even trauma in this lifetime from a family member who has passed on.

So this could be a severe impediment to your work to help your client. And if this did happen, you know, let’s say that you invoke that without asking and you know, they’ve got something that is insanely trigger. It’s incredibly hard to come back from that because they just simply won’t trust it. Right?

Like energetically they’re already shut down because they’re now associating, opening up intuitively in session with this, you know, energy that’s gonna come through and could possibly talk to them again or hurt them. So I would just recommend as a best practice of just not doing it. You can accomplish the same thing by invoking a client’s higher self.

You don’t need to be having a conversation with our ancestors. Right. So I just recommend steering clear of it unless they ask you to do it. And then you have the faculty to do so if you’ve got the skill to do so, the six of course, I can’t believe I put this one last, I guess these aren’t in any real order, but this one’s a big one.

Obviously your spirit guides, right? Your spirit guides. So this is just my take on this. Sometimes I get asked questions, like what’s the difference between the higher self and your spirit guide? Well, your spirit guides to me, when I work with spirit guides, their energy is less intense as your higher self.

And by intense, I just mean there’s just seems to be more authority to manifest, to move things, to shake things when you’re working with a higher self. I don’t know if it’s because they’re in a higher realm or if it’s just the job of a higher self to do that. But spirit guides are profoundly helpful because I feel like spirit guide’s energy is like working with a person’s best friend.

Spirit guides are very, very, very familiar. Typically with the day to day aspects of a person’s life, they are obviously, you know, completely in the know of what your client’s life purpose and life path is. They just have a different approach to it. So I have found that if your client feels lonely, if they feel like they, you know, maybe aren’t loved.

If they’re struggling with like abandonment and rejection, invoking spirit guides is really powerful because it’s like asking their best friend to come sit with them. And then number seven, of course, is your client’s spirit guide. It’s if you roll with that, if you feel like you’ve got the skill to communicate with your client spirit guides, that of course is something that you can invoke as an authority in the session to lead and guide both you and your client.

So now let’s move on to some tips in writing and invocation, some things to include. The first thing to say to this is you literally cannot do this wrong, right? Like you literally cannot. Okay. So let’s just have fun with it. There’s no best way to do it. It’s just speaking from your heart. That is how you write an invocation.

You speak from your heart. So keep it simple. The first one is just keep it simple. Resist the urge to feel like it needs to be flowery or fancy or rhyme. Okay. We’re not going for the invocation haiku here. We’re just going for like, yo, this is how I feel. This is what I need. This is how I’m showing up.

This is the stuff I’d like help with. Thank you very much. Let’s go right. Speak from the heart. Say what makes you feel seen, heard, and supported by spirit speak from the heart. That’s the next one? Okay. The second one is speak from the heart. The third is ask for the highest good of all involved to be.

The highest good for you? The highest good for client that is such an amazing feeling. When you are asking the universe to put in place, what needs to be there. So the highest good is served and to take away and put barriers up around the things that do not serve the highest. Good. Right. And then the next one is state your intention.

That you personally are asking and choosing that you personally want to serve the highest could. So you’re asking spirit to help that effect that on their side, but you’re also stating that that is your intention as well. Okay. And then you can ask for help. In doing that, you can say, Hey, I’m a human being.

I make mistakes. You know, it’s hard sometimes for me to make the right call, can you please help me be a conduit for the highest good of all. And the next one is I would say, just consider closing your invocation with surrendering. Your will to the will of the divine, right? To say at the end of all of this, that I’m asking for, I let it all go.

I surrender it, that I will be done. I understand that I am here to be a servant. I’m here to learn in humility and love, right. So that I will be done to let it all go. So you ask and then we let it all go. And we know that whatever happens in the next time allotted. During this engagement that you’re using your invocation, that it’s gonna be total fire, man.

It’s gonna be great, right? No matter what happens, you can’t lose. So again, there’s no right or wrong way to do this. The best way to do it is the invocation that feels aligned and congruent with your heart and your intention. So here are a couple of fun ways that you can begin. Cuz I think anytime we, I taught a class on this and not wanna, you know, we taught our coaches how to write an invocation.

They’re like, I don’t know what to say to start. So here are two openers that you can use that will really get you going. So the first is spirit or God or universe I ask you to surround and envelop me in your truth and love during my time here today, if you’re working with a client, you would just say, we ask you to surround and envelop us in your truth and love during our time here today.

You could also say I step forward now as a humble servant of God, almighty to bring forward light and truth and information. That will best help myself here today. And if it’s your client, you just insert your client’s name. Okay. You can also then state your intention to serve, to help or illuminate, ask for help, to serve, to help and illuminate.

If you have something specific that you want to ask or that you want to work on now is the time you can insert it right there in your invocation. Okay. This can include asking for protection to reveal what is hidden to heal. What is broken. Whatever it is that you feel your heart and your soul needs in that moment, you can ask for help with it.

And then of course, close this baby with gratitude, surrendering your will to the divine and thanking God in spirit for giving you what you have asked for. I want to close this podcast on invocations with a. Highlighting the difference between what an invocation is and an incantation is because there’s a big, big difference between an invocation and an incantation.

So what is the difference? An invocation is where you are asking for help. You’re declaring an intention and you are asking for an authority. We went over the seven authorities, right? Of course, God, I just say, go to God. Right? The master of all that is the God of the universe. We’re asking we’re beseeching.

We’re asking for assistance through God in obeyance of God’s will to help us live a better life. So we are asking for help, but we’re also humbly saying at the end of the day, that will be done. And in candidation is where you are basically casting spell. You are putting together words, symbols, you’re embedding in what you’re saying.

Right. You’re writing something. It can on the surface seem like an invocation, but an incantation is you basically casting magic with the power of the logos, which is of course the spoken word. So in the Christian tradition, the Bible opens up and says in the beginning there was the word and the word was with God.

And the word was, God. So an Incan is speaking into existence. What you want to see, it’s casting a spell. That’s why they call, you know, words, spelling. So it’s casting a spell. It’s using your own creative power, your own creative manifestation ability. That’s I mean, that’s what human beings possess. We are co-creators of this reality.

It’s using your own internal. Manifestation and creation system to get what you want that might be in alignment with the highest good. It might not, it might be something that you would benefit from. It might not, it might be something other people will benefit from. We don’t know. Right. Because what the hell do we know about what we want?

The older I get, the more I realize I have no clue what I really want or need and the more I let it go, boy, the more do I get. That I didn’t know. I always wanted. And so I think that’s really important to highlight that we actually do have the power to bring things into being, and that it is a mighty power.

It’s a mighty honor. And I think that we should use it on bended knee, always at the end of the day, asking for guidance from an authority that loves us and wants the best for us. Have fun writing your invocation. I would love to hear your invocation too. Once you write it, you can post it over in our Facebook group.
